The learning needs of students at St Mary’s are catered for in their class through differentiated teaching strategies. Some students may benefit from intervention programs. These students are identified, prioritised and selected by class teachers and the Intervention Team.
STAR is an intensive early literacy intervention program, that provides individual instruction. Students are identified and selected by specialist Reading Recovery teachers, class teachers and the school Intervention Team.
Leveled Literacy Intervention –
Leveled Literacy Intervention is a short-term intervention, that provides intensive, small-group literacy instruction, which supplements classroom literacy teaching.
Multi Sensory Learning –
Staff have been trained in Multi Sensory Learning (Orton Gillingham Approach) to support Structured learning
EMU (Extending Mathematical Understanding) Level 1 Intervention EMU Intervention is a research based, small group program which targets the specific mathematical needs of each student participant.
